Remembering the Guru – Guru Purnima – 12 July 2014

A-complete-stranger-has-the-capacity-to-alter-the-life-of-another-irrevocably

A long time ago, there was a lost puppy,
who was blissfully unaware that he was lost…
Fortunately, a pair of hands took him under their protection
and gave him a new home.

At first, the puppy was overjoyed.
He trotted merrily around the nooks and corners of his new home…
discovering and relishing the fantastic treats that they hid…

But gradually he began to sense that…
his new home had its own rules…
and those rules were strictly enforced!

“What a pity”, thought the puppy…
as he reminisced the abandoned freedom of the wilderness…
and at the first sign of trouble, he made a run….

However soon the puppy realized that
the outside world wasn’t as friendly either…
There were only a few places of shelter,
the food was scarce and nowhere as good as home…
but, most importantly,
there were no hands to pick him up when he fell down…

The trade-off between the discipline of home and the freedom of wilderness
simply didn’t seem so lucrative to him now…

The regretful puppy tried returning home several times,
But every time he went back…
he found the doors closed.

He often sat patiently outside the house,
waiting for the doors to open…
But they always repelled him back into the wilderness.

Then one fine day the puppy became really desperate!
He gave the door one hard push and surprisingly, it opened….
It was then that he realized…
THE DOOR WAS NEVER LOCKED!
It was just his false belief that was stopping him from entering INSIDE

However…
even though the puppy has finally found his way INSIDE
the pair of hands that changed his life are nowhere to be seen…
There is food; there is shelter…
But somehow the home still doesn’t feel like home …

So, if you do happen to find those pair of hands
Then be so kind as to let them know that…
the puppy really misses them a lot…
And also that –
HE NEEDS TO BE SAVED AGAIN!
